We are pleased to show you yet another lovely house which needed some TLC, refurbished externally by our teams here with NPA wall coatings.
This country home near Tenby, Pembrokeshire, was solidly built but time and the weather had taken its toll on the house.
Driving rain across adjoining fields had lashed at the walls so hard that water was coming in through the window frames, and the cracks .

Some serious renovation was needed to preserve this delightful late “arts and crafts” style house.
….and if you are wondering what roughcast actually is, it is a term that can be vaguely attributed to pebbledash, which has usually a need for a decorative covering, sometimes a coloured cement wash or tyrolean coating, and sometimes it is a sprayed wet-dash render, similar to a mixture of pebbledashing and tyrolean wall finishes.
Arts and Crafts house project
This lovely Arts and Crafts house was a credit to its owners INTERNALLY but after years of simply “paying a man down the pub” to paint the house, the owners knew that something a bit more substantial was needed, especially as the property had started leaking water too.
Here is a shot of the front of the house before work started
This could have been terrible for the owner if it hadn’t been for the weatherproofing work we did because the period interior of the house would have been damaged.
This is the REAR before we started the wall coating
In one fine spring week, our teams hacked off all the loose roughcast render, replaced it and tyroleaned with a heavy mix to reinstate the textured wall surface, so much so, the repairs were invisible once the primer was painted onto the house!
As it was quite a big place we did half of it from start to finish and then did the other half, meaning that our work did not inconvenience the owners too much.
Here is a photo of the front after we painted it
The Arts and Crafts house was finally finished off with NEVER PAINT AGAIN textured masonry coating, which will not fade, crack, chip or peel, preserving the character of the house whilst offering complete protection against the weather.
And to finish it off, here is a shot of the rear, fully painted
This house will look this good for at least the next 25 years.
