Northamptonshire house with never paint again exterior wall coatings

Extensive rendering repairs and wall coatings rescue this house in Northamptonshire

Another example of our high quality rendering and wall coating work, to this house in Northamptonshire, which had extensive render problems as you will see from the photos in the story below.

Unlike a traditional local decorator, we actually carry out a full repair service before painting.

Here’s what we did.

The problems we, and other companies have faced since covid came along, meant that there was a gap of a few months over winter of 2020 before we could start work on this large house.

When we surveyed it, we identified many problem areas of rendering, with several cracks evident across large parts of the building.

During the subsequent winter, before we started work, the bad areas of render were subjected to the freeze and thaw process, meaning that it pushed more render away from the wall than when we first saw the house.

This house was in worse condition than we originally thought, but nothing is too much of a challenge for us!

The thing that people like about dealing with us is the fact that once a price is agreed, that is it, in writing and you will not pay a penny more.

Our price promise gives you reassurance not found elsewhere

When we started work the team soon realised the house was in far worse condition than previously though. However many companies would then approach the client for more money due to there being more work to do, but not us.

The price you see is the price you pay.

Some bits of the render literally fell off the wall without the use of tools!

This was one of the worst areas.

You can see the damage that has been done to the bricks by frost, so in this case we had to repair the bricks before applying a coat of render on top, just to be double sure the render will not crack again.

The bad news just kept on coming…

another patch of bad render

But anyway, as I said we like a challenge and this is certainly by far not the worse job we’ve ever done, so we got to work identifying all the bad areas previously unknown from the survey, and ended up removing many large areas of bad render, and cutting out a myriad of cracks around the house.

One thing that stands us apart from a traditional painter and decorator is the fact that we spend a lot of time and attention on preparation works before we even open a tin of paint or whatever.

Our approach is to make your home completely sound and free of defects, and then spray apply a protective and decorative exterior wall coating, which is guaranteed for 20 years.

“Yes madam, it certainly DOES need more than a lick of paint!”

So the above images have probably set the scene for the work we had to do on this house.

All in a days work I guess.

Not all houses need rendering repairs, and not all jobs we do need this much repair, but if you choose us to paint your home this year, you get a lot more for your money than simply employing a painter, as our before and after gallery will attest.

So what did we do after repairing all this rendering?

Once all the repairs were completed, we walked around the building with the customer to show them the end result of all the repairs and they were happy with what we had done and were also happy for us to carry on with the rest of the works.

  • We masked up the doors and windows and laid dust sheets on the paths to contain any mess.
  • We then hand-applied a primer coating to all wall surfaces
  • We then sprayed a generous amount of Wethertex MP44 textured masonry coating to the walls
  • We then removed all masking, waste and mess, job done!

Once the main colour had been applied, we picked out trim and the plinth with a complimentary colour
