Are you looking for information about rendering and painting the outside of your house?
Here is just one example of the work we do, this time it’s in Wales.
The latest completed exterior rendering and wall coating project we have to show you is located in Mold, North Wales. This is a job that several local “painters and decorators” walked away from as it was too much work for them!
The repairs we did before applying a wall coating included extensive rendering.
Although we work across the entire UK, this job property was located at the top of a hill with amazing views, however the downside was that the house had a lot of weather beating to contend with and the rain, wind and everything else had affected the exterior render coating on the house which in some cases, had actually fallen off in big chunks.
Usually when we carry out work to houses we do take photos, when we remember (!) and we took some here so let me take you through what the house looked like when we arrived, and also what we did, then finishing with what the house looks like now!
This is what we started with
Mould in Mold?!
You can clearly see from this photograph of the rear, that there were a lot of cracks in the walls, and poor rendering, plus mould all across the walls, a sure-fire sign that the walls contain moisture, or the mildew would not grow would it?
Mould on the walls is a very bad thing and not only makes your carpets and furnishings smell bad, it’s also very bad for your health too.
Rendering and wall coatings in Wales just got easier
When our teams started to test the walls, which we do by lightly tapping a small hammer on the wall.
When the hammer returns a hollow sound, we know that the render has come away from the bricks beneath so in order to successfully install an exterior protective home coating, we have to renew the render.
Look at this mess!
The work here encompassed extensive render repairs, to small and very large patches (see images), and also some urgent repairs were carried out by our team on the chimney stack which was in a dangerous condition.
Here is what the front of the house looked like when the render fell off
One the house was made “sound” and free of wall defects, we masked up the windows, laid dust sheets and then hand applied a primer coating to the walls and allowed to dry for one day.
This next image shows what the house looked like after our plastering guys had take off and removed all the bad render and re-applied the rendering to match in with the wall surface.
Spraying the exterior textured wall coating
We then spray applied a white exterior wall coating to the walls of this house which now fully protects the place from the harsh weather as this durable and flexible wall coating is by far the best quality product anyone can have on their walls.
To show the sheer amount of render we had to remove, we also took this image of one of the side walls of this deceptively spacious home, after we had replaced the rendering.
The house will not need any repairs, nor painting, for at least 20 years, fully guaranteed.
We work all across Wales, and often do rendering and painting jobs in other parts of the Welsh regions.
So to finish off, here are some more views.
This is the rear of the house, looking over the valley
And this is another photo, showing the front of the house with a new protective exterior wall coating!
And finally the last image shows one of the oldest sections of the house, which did not need to be rendered, but we did have to apply a cement bonding primer slurry called bagging, and then hand apply a primer, before spraying a good thick weatherproof coat of new wall coating to the walls.
This home will now repel all the wet weather that Wales has to throw at it and will not need to be painted for up to 20 years, and that comes with a 20 year warranty too!
No one can beat our exterior wall coating system for quality, price and longevity.
