Another example of a quality exterior wall coatings job and House Painting in Exeter Devon, completed in winter 2012.
This lovely property suffered from green mould growing on the walls, plus an amount of damp, and hollow rendering.
This blog post shows you the work we did in removing the green mould, repairing the bad render and painting it with our wall coating system.
If your home in Exeter, or in fact anywhere in the UK, needs another paint job this year, stop and think how much it is costing you each year.
Especially if it needs far more than just a coat of paint because we carry out all kinds of repairs, like the rendering we had to do on this job!
We’re going to show you how we install a textured wall coating which will not need repainting!
Yes, that’s correct, if you are fed up with painting your house each year, or searching for a painter and decorator, to paint the house, it gets more expensive each year.
So why not have a special type of paint, which lasts for up to 20 years and has anti-mould characteristics?
This is the house we started with:
You don’t need to be an expert to see that in the photo above, green mould and mildew was growing all over the house, something that damp proofing paint just won’t cure, but OUR product will.
Many home owners who suffer with this, simply take it for granted that if they live in the countryside their home walls will get green.
Not so with our exterior wall coating system, because they contain special fungicides that actively stop damp and mould from growing in the first place.
If your walls have green mould, this means that WATER exists inside the wall, otherwise the mould would not grow in the first place!
Here is another view of the house before we started work.
Some info on how we repaired the house
One of the first things to do, especially with the green on the wall, was to apply a fungicidal wash and powerwash the walls to get rid of the mould and to help us identify where any cracks were that had been covered up with this yucky green mildew!
Here is when we started investigating how bad the rendering was
It wasn’t very long after hammer testing the walls by lightly tapping them, that we found some patches of hollow render which needed to be replaced immediately.
And lo and behold we found more bits of render that were just about to fall off, so we helped them meet their maker with a hammer and chisel!
Luckily there were not too many patches of hollow render
It is of vital importance that when doing any house painting or exterior wall covering work like this, that ALL repairs, even suspect bad bits, MUST be repaired and replaced before the primer is put on to the walls.
It’s the professional way of doing it and the correct way of doing it, each and very time.
Here are the “after” images of the house!
When all the work had been done, we took some more photos and here they are!
And here is a shot of another newly painted wall, from another angle.
The sun or rather lack of it, makes the photos look like each wall is a different shade but it is a trick of the light I assure you!
A freshly painted house always looks great and this will stay looking like this for the next 20 years without repainting
We then walked around the side of the property after taking the above photo, and took another one to include a part of the rear too and here it is!
Here is the final image from our gallery feature.
All work done, all our tools etc., neatly packed back in the van, and one very happy client!
This house is now free of defects, damp and mould, and the exterior of the property will no longer suffer from green mould growing on the walls.
We have a large portfolio of completed house painting work in Devon, but we do work across other parts of the country as well.
The external wall coating on this home will not crack, fade, chip or peel, for a guaranteed minimum time of 20 years.
