rear of anglesey house with never paint again wall coatings

A farmhouse in Anglesey gets the Never Paint Again wall protection coatings it badly needed!

Last month took us to the beautiful island of Anglesey, just off the coast of Wales, and also known in the Welsh language as Ynys Môn.

The area gets buffeted by the winds off the Irish Sea and many homes there have to be frequently repainted as normal masonry house paint does not last long under those conditions.

Which is why we were there, installing our famous NEVER PAINT AGAIN exterior wall coating, which lasts over 20 years.

That’s one main reason why people keep contact ing us to paint their house with our wall coating system, it’s value for money, and lasts over 2 decades, saving time, hassle, and expense, both in the short term and the longer term too.

Here is what we did to refurbish this grade 2 listed farmhouse in Wales.

The house was well built, hundreds of years old, and structurally in good order.

Our remit was to refurbish the exterior walls, repairing cracks where found, stabilising the loose exterior wall surface, and basically brightening the place up a little.

This is a view of the house before work started, looking a little dull and uninspiring, but not for long!

As this was a farmhouse, the team had plenty of room to work around each elevation of the house, plus for the more inaccessible areas we had scaffolding erected, by a local scaffolder based in Anglesey.

The first thing we did was to powerwash the entire house, which due to its size certainly took some time.

A house of this scale and size costed not much more than a professional painter and decorator on Anglesey would have charged, but the bonus is that the client has no need to call us back to repaint for 20 years so you can imagine how much money he is going to save!

We also had to repair and paint the chimneys on the house, which required extensive scaffolding

Once all was in place we then masked up the doors and windows, and the pipes, to protect the areas not to be painted, and then laid dust sheets around the base of the walls so as to not make any mess on the ground.

As we SPRAY our wall coating system, we need to take into account several factors, such as wind speed, weather and time of day, and of course all the masking we do, essential when spraying paint.

We then started the application process to install the weatherproof wall coating system.

This comprised of:

  • Carrying out all repairs needed to the walls, although in this case there was not too much.
  • Masking up and protecting areas not to be sprayed.
  • Applying a bonded cement slurry stabilising coat.
  • Hand applied a weatherproof prime to all areas of wall
  • Spray the top coat of Wethertex MP44 masonry coating to all walls.
  • Remove masking papers and clean up the entire site.

This is how one gable end turned out, although here they call it a “pine end”.

The paint finish on this wall, in fact on the whole house, will protect it from the Welsh weather, unlike masonry paint, and will go on looking crisp, fresh and bright for over 20 years, guaranteed.+

So in summary, having us refurbish the outside of your house bring benefits that can only be dreamed about if until now you have been using your local decorator.

A typical painter may well do a fairly decent job, but even the best masonry paint will only last a couple of years, and they know that because they want your money!

We don’t want to see our customers again for 2 decades, but it’s nothing personal! LOL!

All work is fully guaranteed against fading, cracking, peeling or chipping, plus our wall coating system stops all types of damp.

The wall coatings we use also cut wind chill, and as they are 20 times the thickness of masonry paint, they actively lower your home heating bills, saving you even more money over time.
