1. Who are you?
We are an independently owned, specialist exterior wall coatings company. We deal solely in exterior building and construction projects, mainly refurbishing external walls of all shapes and sizes. We do almost all of our marketing online, and as such, we can offer you premium quality products at internet prices!

2. How long have you been in business?
We started up way back in 1986, in England, and have grown to become a major international exterior painting and decorating website and construction repair group, and, a world renowned resource on exterior paints and coatings.
We are owned by the same family since 1986, and we work very closely with a dedicated group of specialist paint companies and exterior wall coating contractors with offices and representatives all across the United Kingdom and in Europe.

The Never Paint Again brand was internationally trademarked by our founder, Mr Guy Bell, way back in June 2004. The phrase "Never Paint Again" cannot be used by others, it is owned BY US.
There are approximately 250 people involved with our organisation, some individuals having over 35 years experience in the same field, ensuring that if you request a quote or information, or in fact if you want to ask us anything, we guarantee that your enquiry will be dealt with BY AN EXPERT, not a dodgy sales rep, a bored teenager, or some cowboy builder!
3. What does your company do?
Our projects commonly include repairing the external walls of buildings and applying spray wallcoatings to private houses like yours; and commercial buildings such as public houses, restaurants, office buildings, warehouse complexes, places of education and worship and multi-use buildings. NO JOB TOO LARGE! We carry out a range of exterior building works. By special request, in some areas, we can offer other associated work such as small extensions, minor demolition, alterations to buildings, flooring or roofing.
4. What products do you offer?
We offer a range of products (mostly for Professional trade use only). Our products can only be used and applied by our teams or authorised agents, they are NOT for DIY use and therefore we do not and cannot sell you a product to apply yourself. Clear shield is a colourless waterproofing compound that penetrates deep beneath the surface forming a waterproof silicone barrier within the wall. Suitable where you want the protection, but not to change the appearance of your home. CURES PENETRATING DAMP AND EROSION. Also prevents heat loss, makes your house feel warm and welcoming again, and lowers your heating bills.

Our wallcoatings are made for us by a UK owned company. It is manufactured under very strict guidelines. Our products are very specialist and cannot be bought, or applied, by anyone other than us. Textured wallcoatings have the same weatherproofing properties above, but are available in a range of beautiful colours and textures to enhance your home. Our textured coatings are also good for hiding surface imperfection and surface mismatches, such as new extensions.

5. How do you apply your NEVERPAINTAGAIN™ wallcoating products?
- We carry out all external building repairs such as re-rendering, fixing cracks, injecting damp proof courses where needed etc.
- We then temporarily mask up all doors, pipes and windows, still allowing access to and from the building, and then lay lots of dustsheets to protect paths, lawns, patio areas etc.
- We apply a sand/cement and bonding primer to brick or pebble dashed houses only.
- We then hand or spray apply a special primer coat. This is partially absorbed into the building, sealing any microscopic areas that damp and moisture could penetrate. At this stage, the building is NOT "sealed up" and with micro porous technology, is able to fully "breathe" as per building regulations.
- We then apply our flexible top coat with a special industrial spray machine we have specially imported from the United States. This is a specialist machine and can only be used by those with years of experience and special training. The final coat is fused onto the wall at up to 20 times the thickness of a normal paint film.
- We then remove all the masking and clean up with a final quality inspection before we finish.
- After this whole process is completed, you would be walked around your newly refurbished home with the installation crew supervisor. Provided you are fully satisfied, we ask you to complete a satisfaction survey and then to pay us the final balance.
- All of our teams are factory trained, highly skilled, courteous and helpful. Each of our operatives are skilled builders in their own right Please ask for further details.
- You would receive a further site visit after the job has finished as a courtesy call and for us to inspect the installation of our wallcoatings on your home. This is also to satisfy ourselves that each and every installation meets with our strict quality control guidelines. You would be issued with your personalised 15 year written guarantee shortly after.
Clearshield siloxane coating
Clearshield is our other wall coating treatment product and is suitable for brick, stone, unpainted masonry, unpainted stucco, pebbledash, tyrolean or spar dash external wall surfaces.
We 1st clean the property walls, getting rid of dirt, mould, algae, traffic grime, industrial grime, pollution etc. We then expertly check the building for defects such as loose or missing pointing or mortar joints, cracks and cracked, hollow render and carry out the repairs to the external walls.
We then spray apply 1 or 2 coats of the wall coating product as required. This will not alter the external appearance in any way. Please go to the main product page for further information.

7. Will a salesman call on me?
NO, absolutely NOT! Our meeting with you is designed to be an informal, relaxed discussion with an expert. THIS SERVICE IS FREE OF CHARGE AND WITHOUT OBLIGATION.
We do not send a sales person around to your home. The people who would service your requirements are highly trained individuals who have been in this business for years and can advise on a whole range of problems associated with your home. We are one of the few companies in the wallcoatings industry that do not SELL our products: people BUY them.
In summary, unlike other similar Textured wall coating companies we do not:
- Cold call you on the phone and force, pressure or convince you to accept an appointment to see us.
- Knock on your door unannounced and try and sell you something you do not want or need anyway.
- We don’t bother you late evenings or other unsocial hours unless it’s the only time you are available, and you have personally requested an appointment at an unsocial hour.
- We don’t call you on the phone every day to sell you stuff.
- We don’t subject you to a gruelling 3 or 4 hour sales "pitch".
- We also do NOT give you a silly price for the work, and then attempt to "close the deal" by dropping the price massively with a lame "show home" promotion deals.
- We don’t tie you down to signing on the day. If you want to think about it, that’s fine! If you are quite happy to tell us YES on the day, that’s also fine, but it’s YOUR decision, NOT ours!
- We also don’t try and sell you an expensive credit agreement. (Most textured wall coating companies seem to, usually about 25% APR, we don’t!)
- We don’t insist on "both parties being there" when we visit to quote the job on your house if it’s wholly unnecessary and causes you inconvenience.
- It does help us if you both are present, as this exterior coating is NOT a merely "a lick of paint from a chap who lives down the road", but a complete exterior wall system and as such is NOT designed to be changed every year, That’s the whole point of "NEVER PAINT AGAIN™".
- However, saying that, if you’re happy to explain in detail what we are offering to your partner after we have left, or perhaps a separate appointment with your "other half" if applicable, That’s fine.

8. Is my home (or business premises) suitable?
Yes, probably......
Our residential refurbishments department have a wealth of experience on a variety of different types and styles of home. Generally most of our contracts are on homes built after 1820AD up to brand new builds, terraced, detached, semi detached, maisonettes, bungalows, farmhouses, barn conversions etc.

No matter what sort of house you live in, and no matter how big or how small, how grand or how humble, we can make the outside walls free of maintenance for at least 15 years!!!
Our products are also ideal for protecting buildings in exposed and coastal areas where frequent repair and re-painting is impractical and often expensive, and is also ideal for commercial buildings.
9. What properties do you NOT do?
We do not undertake work on Grade 1 listed buildings, nor do we work on historic or ancient buildings: there are some specialist companies that can help you;
In some cases we are happy to consider projects involving exterior refurbishment of ordinary grade 2 listed buildings (subject to planning consent and restrictions) and offer full project management facilities to ensure your house is preserved against the weather for many more years to come.
Remember, our products are NOT paint. When repairing Grade 2 listed buildings, we use a mix of the old and the new to refurbish the building whilst protecting its character. We also use breathable, often lime based, renders to repair these buildings.
We do not undertake work on wholly wooden buildings (until further notice), We are exterior wall specialists.
We also do not work on buildings which are in a dangerous condition, or are structurally unsound, or subject to land or property disputes. We also reserve the right to refuse to accept a contract for safety reasons or due to risk of flooding, civil unrest, war or terror threats.
We also reserve the right to refuse to accept a contract if the potential customer is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is of unsound mind, or if the potential customer is rude or aggressive in any way when we visit their home.
We treat you with the utmost courtesy, but we expect you, the public, to treat us with the same level of courtesy.

10. You offer a 15 year guarantee, is it worth the paper its written on?
Yes, definitely! We would not offer a guarantee unless it meant something to our many customers. Any warranty offered on a service or a product should offer the customer complete peace of mind, however there have been many companies in the building industry who have not honoured their guarantees or have gone out of business. Full details on request.
WE OFFER A 15 YEAR WRITTEN GUARANTEE ON ALL PRODUCTS. Basically, we have been here for 19 years and we will be here for another 19 years, but our guarantee gives our customers reassurance. So in answer to the question, the guarantee is worth far more than the paper its written on! Your warranty is usually issued up to 4 weeks after the completion of the job, although the terms of the warranty start from day one after we finish. Your guarantee would be issued by the installations and contracting company who do the work, not the owners of this website. The guarantee covers all exterior wallcoating products, and building work, AND workmanship for a period of up to 15 years.
Our guarantee covers you against the HIGHLY unlikely event of our coating fading, cracking, peeling or flaking or falling off, something that has never happened, but its good to have the peace of mind anyway.
11. I bought a can of masonry paint which gives a 15 year guarantee so what's so good about yours?
Just like everything, there are disclaimers and get-out clauses for the manufacturer. Many good quality masonry paints offer some form of guarantee, but it's very very hard to claim on the guarantee unless of course, the product is used by an experienced trade professional, such as a "Dulux approved decorator" etc. and the application of such paint or wall coating can be proved to be as per factory specifications.
All dealers and contractors using the NEVERPAINTAGAIN™ exterior wall coating system have a specific menu to adhere to when they install the coating, and are mainly supervised throughout. There are many other aspects of a successful application of our coating that require months, even years of rigorous training and skill.

Any paint or wall coating will only last for the allotted time if it is applied in the correct manner and BY THE BOOK. That is, all due care and attention is given to extensive preparation. All due attention is given to seasonal and weather conditions, and the correct equipment is used to apply the product. Equally, the amount of product used can indicate how long a paint of coating will last on a wall surface.
A typical application of NEVERPAINTAGAIN™ exterior wall coating uses hundreds, sometimes thousands of litres of product on average!!!
It's like having 20 coats of paint all at once.

14. What would a wallcoating system cost me?
This is always the most commonly asked question!
As no two houses are the same, and of course, considering our personal service, it is usually best if we see your house before we give you a price.
Unlike other textured coating companies, a price enquiry is FREE and does NOT commit you to buy. If you are solely looking for something cheap and cheerful, don’t call us! If you are looking for a quality product and quality service, please make your enquiry. Asking us questions is what we like, and will not cost you a penny. We wont pressure you for anything, don’t worry!!
Textured wallcoatings in the UK have changed dramatically over the past 3 years.
We are the company that has largely changed it; we LISTEN to our customers, not talk AT them.
Other wall coating companies don’t like this as they want to con you and rip you off.
You will always get an ethical and honest service from us and we don’t pressure you!

A deposit is payable upon placing an order with us. You are provided with a receipt or invoice on request. Your local agent will run through the specifics of this with you. This is of course negotiable and without pressure. It is unlikely that we would start a job without some form of deposit from you as we have to pay out OUR money on your behalf in the planning and manufacture of materials before we even start the job. Your wallcoating materials do NOT usually come off a shelf at the NEVER PAINT AGAIN factory and is custom made to your EXACT and SPECIFIC requirements.
15. OK, I'm interested, what happens if I contact your company?
Well, its not as scary as you may think! We are open for your convenience 7 days a week, however during busy times, our call centre cannot direct your call immediately to an expert and will take messages instead, so please tell the agent your requirements and we will return your call shortly after.

16. Then what happens?
- If you contact us by email using the CONTACT form, you will automatically recieve an email saying that we have recieved your enquiry, so be sure to include a valid e-mail address. We speak to you 1st (by phone or email) to find out your exact requirements and to discuss the options you have available to you.
You may also request a FREE colour brochure at this point.
- We then arrange a date and time to visit you in your home and survey your building (FREE of charge) and prepare a written specification and quote for you. This can take as little as 30 minutes to a maximum 2 hours depending on size of building.
- We point out any problems you may have on the outside of your house such as hollow render, pebbledash or cracks etc. and explain what has happened and how we can fix it.
- We then show you samples of our product and photos of previous jobs.
- We then calculate a total price for you which is in writing and is a guaranteed price with no hidden charges or surprises.
- You do not have to make a decision on the day and are under no obligation to do so, however if you like what you see and the price is right, it does help us get things moving quicker if you do tell us on the day we see you. If you are chasing quotes from other companies, I would suggest calling us LAST as our PRICE PROMISE means that wherever possible we will beat any price given by a competitor for a similar service to ours.
- If you decide to go ahead and have the work done, we prepare some simple paperwork with you, outlining exactly what work we are doing for you for a fixed price. We then take photographic records of the present state of your house. You may then also choose from a range of 12 standard colours, or over 4,000 specially made colours. We also ask for a deposit to secure the deal.
This would be payable by cheque; unlike your "local builder" we DO NOT do cash in hand jobs, so please don't ask for that as refusal sometimes can offend.
17. I have seen an advert elsewhere with "Never Paint Again". Is it genuine?
Despite having all our work copyright protected, some unscrupulous cowboys still try and get away with taking text and images from this website.
If you suspect someone is using our name illegally, someone is pretending to be part of our group when they are not, or if you are dissatisfied in any way by the service you have got from a wallcoating company (even if they are nothing to do with us), let us know here at NPA.
We have contacts in the industry all around the world. If we can put a disreputable wallcoating company out of business we will do so! Stick around with the trusted brand. NEVER PAINT AGAIN!
If you have seen a website that has similar page titles to us, with similar FAQ’s, similar product pages, or testimonials section, similar format etc, then please tell us! We have been ripped off many times by cowboy exterior wallcoating companies who then employ rubbish web designers to design them a site. Well, guess what? Every last letter and image on this website is protected by international law.!
You cannot use the phrase "Never Paint Again" in the UK without 1st purchasing a brand licence from us after undergoing strict tests and checks.
In addition, you cannot take material from this website and call it yours. We also have built in a system which tracks and alerts us when material from this website is used elsewhere.
While we are flattered that people in the industry look to us as the arbiter of a wall coatings website for the UK, but it took a lot of hard work and around $200,000 to build, so don’t copy it or you will face legal action. Why not join us instead?

18. Do your paints & exterior wall coatings last as long as you say?
Yes! Our coatings last for around 25 years, and this comes with a comprehensive 15 year written guarantee for your peace of mind and reassurance.
And we are also happy to point out that other exterior coatings on the market, in most cases, also last quite long, however you would need to contact each individual paint manufacturer to verify that.
If an exterior wallcoating is applied correctly, with the correct specification, as indicated throughout this website and on our OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES page, the coating should last up to 25 years.
The industry has been given a bad name by cowboy, mainly greedy freelance self employed coating teams, who cut corners (for example, they don’t apply the primer, or they don’t fill cracks, or do the rendering). By the time the coating has failed, they are long gone with their excuses and false promises, so make sure you know who is doing the work and where they operate from! This practice is still going on today, so don’t be caught out! Pay attention to what they promise and the work they actually do. A reputable company should always provide a written specification of works, i.e. a list of what you are actually paying them to do to your home.
When you choose this system from NPA, you can be sure that all contractors apply exterior coatings by THE BOOK! If they didn't, they would not be able to be associated with us.
19. Never paint again? Surely you don’t mean never ever do you?
Of course we don’t mean never ever, nothing lasts forever, but our coatings far outlast tyrolean wall finishes, masonry paint finishes and so on, in fact in many cases, up to 25 years. The author of this website can show examples of homes he has sprayed 22 years ago where the coating is still firmly affixed to the wall. We had our trade mark and company name double-checked by the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) in Great Britain to ensure it complied with trading standards and consumer law. There are other companies in the past who have falsely made claims it last for ever, of course it doesn’t, but it lasts long enough.
20. Oh, you spray your coatings on anything don’t you? Gutters, pipes, the whole lot?
NO!
During the 1980’s there were some companies who did this and soon realised it was a huge mistake to apply exterior coating on surfaces like drainpipes and fascias, they got loads of what’s known in the trade as "service calls" and had to go back and put the jobs right, until it got too much and they went out of business, and usually started up again using a different name.
NPA offer a full exterior refurbishment for your house, so we can not only repair the walls, but also replace the doors, windows, soffits, fascias etc, so in essence we provide a complete maintenance free exterior for your home at a price that will surprise you. As a general rule, we normally work on EXTERIOR walls, not internal.
21. I visited your website a few years ago and was very impressed, but there are now loads of websites offering exterior textured coatings aren’t there? Surely it’s all the same thing?
Yes and no. While we have been around online since about 1999, many people have attempted to copy us (badly) since then; all of them are still scratching their heads as to why they cannot beat us. Back then there were only a handful of sites offering exterior coatings, now there are hundreds and 95% of them are utterly rubbish, it could be argued. Our website has had over £150,000 ($300,000) spent on it over the years, and years of research and solid hard work. We were the 1st company to totally ditch the hard sell process that everyone was doing. We were told to "not reinvent the wheel" by a major paint supplier (A company who make textured masonry coatings) who scoffed at us for going online instead of telemarketing and hassling people to buy our products.
These very people and their franchises have now started to copy our method; the method they laughed at!
22. If you are so good, what are the traffic statistics for your website?
We get over 10 million hits per year, (stats taken September 2007) and around 1.3 million unique visitors per year from all around the world, not just Great Britain. People spend on average, 20 minutes on the site. 20% of visitors have been here before.
No one in the exterior coating industry can beat that for RELEVANT traffic. We are also ranked in the top 1 million websites in the world by Alexa (out of several billion sites), and to be frank, many websites that have tried to copy us simply haven’t a clue. We have been featured in the press and on National TV and radio, and that is editorial, not adverts!
We also get around 5 MILLION page views a year! (Why not advertise with us?)
23. Are your products and services expensive?
No, not really. In some cases, our exterior coatings are only fractionally more expensive than having a quality decorator turn up and give you 2 coats of normal masonry paint. The price does depend on many things: The location of the job, the access around the job, the size and scale of the job, the existing surface, whether scaffolding is needed, the amount of repair and remedial work required etc. While we are not the cheapest, we are definitely NOT the most expensive. 24. Do you offer credit, loans or finance?
NO! We have looked into this and the deals on offer, and the deals that other coating firms used, were a rip off. Many home improvement plans that exterior coating companies try and sell you, are a massive rip off with enormous interest to pay, sometimes anything up to 25% APR! The best way to pay for our wallcoating service would be to either 1) Pay from your savings or salary 2) pay by re-mortgaging a small amount of free capital tied up in your house, or 3) get a personal loan from the bank or other provider.
NOTE: Many of our competitors will always try and get you to sign up on their credit terms. While it seems good value at the time, remember you can end up paying it back over the next 10 years. 10 YEARS!! And often if you miss a few payments, your beautifully coated home could be repossessed! Also note that these protective coating companies often get what’s know as a "kickback" from the finance company, often getting another £1,000 on what they have sold. REMEMBER THEY ARE IN YOUR HOME TO SELL YOU TWO PRODUCTS NOT ONE! THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND! THEY ARE BEING SICKLY SWEET NICE TO YOU AS THEY WANT YOUR MONEY! The first product is the coating, the next is the finance. Having a consumer credit licence is NOT a mark of standards or quality! A CCL is usually easier to obtain than a credit card, so don’t be fooled by false claims from some wall coat companies. It just means they are allowed to sell you expensive finance agreements, that is all!
Be very wary! It is worth noting that on average, a texture coating company that sells you finance, ritually bumps up the price, so you may think paying for it on their credit is cheaper, but you will end up paying 3 to 4 times the price that we would charge you! They often train their sales people in "sweat shops" and residential courses, hammering into them a script to repeat parrot fashion. They usually have a very high turnover of staff and only about 5% of their recruits go on to be long term successful salespeople in the wall coating industry.. They are told to stay until they get the order, no matter how long it takes. This in the industry is called "getting the camping gear out"(!). There are many ex-salespeople who have posted complaints and whistleblower reports on this method of hard selling exterior coatings, and the dodgy door canvassers who prey on old people and promise them a free damp survey in order to get in the door and sell to them, however for legal reasons we cannot post the link, you will have to find them online yourself!
25. Do you ever "cold call" people or knock on their doors?
No we’re dont! Unlike many of our competitors, we don’t cold call anyone, EVER, and we don’t have a telesales policy, we don’t do mass leaflet drops through Royal Mail, (we only ever deliver a few leaflets around jobs we are working on), we don’t do door canvassing and we don’t do shows. Our marketing is almost exclusively online and through word of mouth. We don’t hassle you! Please don’t confuse us with other companies. Read more about this BY CLICKING HERE on why you should not accept an appointment when approached out of the blue on your doorstep. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT DOING YOU A FAVOUR, THEY ARE SELLING TO YOU! They will sell you a coating even if it looks ridiculous on your house and ruins the character. They’ve got your money and that, to be frank, is all they care about in most cases.
26. If I call or email you for a quote, how long does it take before you come to see me?
That depends on the time of year and how busy we are. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 5 working days, usually sooner.
Normally, we can see you within a week. If you contact us via the official CONTACT form, the NPA system will send you an auto respond email to thank you. This is for your information only and you do not have to reply to the email.
In the summer, this is sometimes up to 2 weeks, although the surveyor who will eventually contact you to arrange the quotation will be able to advise you of when they can come and see you.
As a polite note, please make sure that you are actually in when they call!
If for any reason you have to change the meeting, please contact us as soon as possible.

27. If and when I place an order with you, how long do I have to wait for the job to be done?
Once again, that depends on the time of year. During the summer, the waiting list is up to 4 weeks, but sometimes sooner. During the autumn and winter time, this is usually down to only 2 weeks waiting until we start.
28. So, if I placed an order, how long would it take to actually do a wall coating treatment on my house?
Once again, that depends on the weather conditions, time of year, size of your house or commercial building, and the amount of repair and remedial work needed to the walls.
The smallest houses with very little wall area, good access and good weather, can take as little as 3 days, thus causing you the minimum of disruption. Larger houses can take anything up to 2 weeks, depending on the weather, commercial contracts sometimes take longer. We try as hard as we can to minimise any hassle and disruption to your normal routine.
Unlike your typical "local builder", we don't have our teams trying to do several jobs at the same time, spending a day here and there on each one! When our teams turn up to do the work, at a pre agreed date and time, they will in most cases concentrate SOLELY on your house until it's finished.
29. I have heard that some texture coatings companies will apply their product to anything as long as they get a sale? Is that true?
Yes, unfortunately in most cases it is true, but not for us!. NPA has actively sought to be the most credible, ethical and honest exterior coating company and we would not, and have never sold, a coating to be applied on a house that would ruin its character or be detrimental to the structure. There are many cases, especially in London, of texture coatings being applied to things like Victorian quoins, headers and mullions, stripping away the fine mouldings and features that are part of the character of the house.
We work WITH your home, not against it. If we feel that your home would NOT be suited for a coating, we reserve the right refuse to sell it to you. We will try and come to a compromise with alternative products such as clear siloxane based water repellents, or a smooth coating. The same could be said for double glazing upvc windows, often put into a house where the large wooden sash windows are perfectly adequate, so its not just coatings that are to blame. Once again, don’t confuse us with others. We won’t ruin your house! Quite the opposite in fact...
30. Do you only work painting houses in the spring and summer?
No, not at all, we work all year around, including Christmas time, although the weather during this time can disrupt and delay jobs but we do try and minimise this where possible by careful planning. We often offer generous incentives to keep our men working all year round, so the winter can be a very good time to get it done! Why wait until we are all busy? Please note: our friendly installation crews usually require more cups of tea than usual during cold winter months!
31. What other products do you sell apart from exterior coatings?
We offer spray applied exterior coatings of course, GRP flat roof systems, UPVC doors, windows, soffits and fascias, commercial painting and decorating, damp proofing, re-pointing, rendering, building alterations and so on. We can make the outside of your house, bungalow, office or commercial building, completely free of maintenance for up to 25 years.
32. I have read lots about online identity fraud. Is this website secure to send my details to you?

34. So you offer a guarantee on your coatings, what happens if I move home?
A good question. Your guarantee with us is affiliated to your house, and as such, when you move, the guarantee can be transferred to the new owner, as long as you inform us of this in writing of any changes as soon as possible. Having an NPA coating on your home can also be a good selling point. ***If you live in the United Kingdom, your home may be subject to a HIPS pack if you plan to sell. Our guarantee should be enclosed in your HIP pack for the buyer to view. When you sell, please tell the buyer to contact us so that we may change the guarantee into their name.
35. You say your coating may lower our heating bills? How?
Our coating is 20 times the thickness of normal paint and contains fillers and resins that cut wind chill, warm up walls and eliminate damp. Your house will not feel so cold and therefore you should see a saving in your fuel bills. Damp houses can also cause health problems so we are happy to check it out for you, but as advised above, we don’t promote free damp surveys to get into your home to sell to you! Others will do so though, so please don’t fall for the silly sales tactics of others...

37. Surely your products would put traditional contractors like painters and decorators, and even builders, out of business?!
NO! Absolutely not! Our products are designed a last a long time, but not for ever; nothing lasts for ever, and also fashions change. For example, stone cladding was designed to last for ever, but may people choose to remove their stone cladding!
The biggest difference between an exterior wall specialist like us, and a painter and decorator, is that a painter will normally do just what he or she is told: they apply paint to your walls! That's it. We do a full repair service, removing and replacing render, fitting windows, gutters, drainpipes, replacing missing pebbledash, fixing leaking roofs and so on BEFORE we get to work applying a colour to the walls! That's one big reason why the coating lasts so long and is excellent value for money!
Houses change hands many times in their life, and we are always on hand to help and advise you no matter what you are considering to have done; whether you have just moved in want to change the look of your house, or if you've been there for a while and just want a change of colour, that's fine, we can help you!. As many our products, especially exterior wall coatings, are specialist services, it's not for everyone I guess, and there will always be plenty of room for quality painters and builders using traditional methods and materials. The domestic exterior wall coatings market is very small percentage of the European paint market & generous estimates suggest about 2% of the whole paint market (maximum), so don't worry, if you are a painter and decorator, your job is safe!!!
We are not looking to put painters and decorators out of business! As part of our exterior refurbishment, we often also painted wooden windows or fascias etc to complement a freshly painted wall, so we actually employ and contract to painters, so I hope that clears it up for you!
38. If you worked on my property, would it require scaffolding?
In many cases yes, but sometimes our teams use "tower" (portable) scaffolding, cherry pickers or ladders. Your surveyor would inform you at the survey stage if scaffolding is required. We normally include a cost for this in the price we quote you. We treat the health and safety of our installation crews as importantly as we treat the safety of our customers, and of course the general public. We don't take risks!

39. What happens if my property was previously coated with a long life wallcoating?
A good question and often people who have been very happy with a coating for around 20 years, contact us to have it done again. We do a through test to determine the state of the coating before we start work. If it is sound, we apply special resins to it which then amalgamate with the new coating, providing protection for your exterior walls for another 20 years!
40. Would I need planning permission to have an exterior wallcoating?
In most cases, no you would not. If the building is listed or in a conservation area, permission may be needed. This would be identified at the survey stage, long before we start the work.
41. Does your clearshield weatherproof brick sealer change the appearance of the building?
NO! Clearshield coatings are absorbed slightly into the buildings wall surface, and form a semi-permeable barrier against dampness. Unlike competitor's brands of brick sealers, it does not leave a sheen. Ask us for a free demonstration....
42. I read that you have to mask up the house if you are applying textured coatings, why and for how long?
We always take great care in protecting areas not to be treated and often use tape and brown paper to mask up doors and windows, in addition to dustsheets we lay on paths and lawns. As this masking can reduce the light into the house, we do try and work in sections, and remove the paper when not needed. The masking tape will NOT ruin your existing paintwork!
43. I have read on another wallcoatings website that coatings are self-cleaning. Is this correct?
That's not strictly true, but as a textured coating paint covering does not absorb water or minerals in the atmosphere, dirt usually washes off every time it rains. If you live next to a busy main road, your property simply would require a wash down with a garden hose with a spray fitting on the end, and it will come up good as new! This is only normally done every 5 years, and if you are one of our previous customers, we also offer this service upon request.
44. It says on your website that you apply coatings with a spray machine? Do you apply any other types of wall coatings?
No, we only use the spray method, which was developed after World War 2 in the USA by the American military. We use high pressure Graco president spray machine, or top fed air powered hopper guns. (SOME) Trowel applied exterior coatings are also good products (if you choose the right company), but you would have to contact them direct, we are experts in the spray applied method, they are experts in trowel applied and we do not sell, or apply this method of coating!
There is a company in the east midlands who are trying to scare people who have had textured spray coatings by implying that they are rubbish! They are not. They have highlighted this with a picture of a poorly applied and very old textured coating, do not be conned by these people!
Let me tell you something about trowel applied exterior wallcoatings ..............When they work on your home, they physically rip the old render off. If this render or pebbledash is firmly stuck to your wall, they will rip it off anyway, which means that they also rip out the mortar joints between the bricks, which can in some cases, cause buckling or movement of the wall. This may also INVALIDATE YOUR HOME BUILDINGS INSURANCE! In addition, where a spray applied coating job would take around a week, their work can take double the time and double the mess! In addition, you will find that a trowel applied exterior coating is about 3 times the price of ours!!!!!!!!!!

45. Are you anything to do with companies in the United States of America, or Canada, who advertise as "Never Paint Again"?
NO! We are not connected in any way with any USA exterior coating companies. If you live in the USA or Canada, you must contact a contractor there.
46. My house was coated 8 years ago by another company, and there's now a small problem with the wallcoating but the contractor who did it has gone out of business, is my guarantee worthless?
Probably yes, I'm sorry to say, although its worth running the contract and guarantee through a solicitor or citizens advice to see if you can obtain some compensation, although with our experience in helping others in a similar position, this is unlikely. Check all documentation though as there may have been warranty insurance provided by the contractor, although with our experience, this is EXTREMELY hard to claim back on. This has been a common problem in the UK exterior wallcoating business for many years. The best course of action would be contact another wallcoating company, explain the problem to them, and maybe if applicable, get them to come around and take a look. (NOTE: There may be a small charge for this service). For any remedial work on a coating, most if not all textured coating companies will charge you for doing the work, and if it's a small area, they may be a hefty premium to pay. It May be worthwhile to get another company to totally re-do the affected wall area as coatings are designed to be seamless, it is often impossible to repair one small patch.
47. Do you sell your products to the general public?
No we don't. All of our coatings are specialist application only by our highly skilled contractors. If you go back to the home page, you may be able to purchase DIY paint and painting sundries from our affiliate partners, "Wickes" DIY.
48. Do you do the work, or do you sub contract it out?
Sub contracting is common in every area of construction, building and home improvements and we have our own in-house teams as well as vetted and checked contractors. As you may be aware, this site covers the whole of Europe and attracts around 9 million hits per year and just under half a million visitors. We cannot possibly deal personally with every enquiry as we are based in the UK, so that when you contact us, you will be contacted afterwards by a vetted professional contractor who will tell you all their contact details including name, address and phone numbers. All staff carry ID cards or have personal ID they can show you. We never turn up to any house without first making contact with you and arranging a suitable time to visit and we NEVER cold call or turn up unannounced.
49. Are my details safe with you?
Yes, no records are ever revealed to anyone outside the company, nor are your details sold on for marketing purposes; all information you provide us remains confidential, and, should you subsequently become one of our customers, you have the right to request all information we hold about you at any stage, including any communication and/or transaction details upon request by writing to the contractor who is, or will be, doing the work on your home.
50. If I request a FREE survey, do I have to buy from you?
No, not at all! Unlike some of our competitors, we do not pressure you in any way, nor do we subject you to a gruelling sales pitch. Our visits are always at your request, and usually last no more than an hour. Our visit normally involves an informal discussion, viewing examples and paint samples, and a discussion and viewing of the house in question. We of course also survey and measure the house and present a price to you. If you have only a limited amount of time to see our surveyor, please tell them that before they drive 100 miles to see you! We can provide a specification of works and written quote upon request. The choice to employ our services is yours, not ours!
51. Have you ever been involved in TV property shows?
Yes we have. We were involved many years ago in a project for Channel 4 Grand designs with kevin McCloud. The house was owned by the ex manager of the pop band East 17 and the also the pet shop boys! We have been approached to appear in other TV makeover shows but experience with the latter has led us to decline offers! In most cases, the owners of the house, and the producers of the show, want you do the job (usually large and very tricky), for next to nothing, on the basis and promise of TV stardom, however that rarely happens and you often only get on the TV for about 5 seconds! ....however that doesnt mean you wont see us again one day on a property show on TV!
52. Do you undertake rendering ONLY jobs?
No, we dont, we always protect new render applied by us, with protective coatings. If you want a wall rendered and thats it, nothing else, you need to contact a local builder!
53. What employment and career opportunities can you offer me?

54. Have you ever had unusual or strange requests from people?
Yes! Amongst the more bizzare requests we have recently had is paint for a burger take away van (!), a lighthouse, a house in the Falkland Islands, a coating for a well, one for a swimming pool, an air raid shelter (!),various churches, a windmill, coatings for underwater, coatings for boats, a coating for a huge military radar station, mobile homes and caravans and so on. We also have been approached by TV property shows to do work for them. We mainly deal with applying special paint or wallcoatings to the outside of traditionally constructed buildings, and of course, our service is now available throughout Europe.
55. Why have you campaigned over the years against bad selling practices in your industry? Surely thats counter-productive for you isnt it?
No, not at all. This website has not just been built to make money. We also have a conscience! The industry, like many others (double glazing being a good example), has had a bad reputation in some cases, mainly for poor quality application of coatings, high pressure selling and conning people, worthless guarantees and so on. We love our industry and we feel it is our job in some way, shape or form, to side with the customer, and to eradicate high pressure selling. People BUY our products and services, they are not SOLD them! We like to think that our approach has helped many people avoid being conned. 56. Can you give me an estimate of cost over the phone or by email?
No, sorry, not any more! We used to do this, but it is impossible to guess how much the work will cost as each job is taken on a "per project" basis, so the only way to get a price is for us to visit your home or commercial premises. You are under no obligation and this service is totally free.
We also do not give quotes if you are NOT the owner of a house. This is for privacy and legal reasons. Once you have purchased the property, please call us back and we would be happy to arrange a free quotation and survey for you.
57. Do you work on flats or apartments?
Not usually no. In our experience, when there is a committee or the job requires investment and decision from many parties, this can drag on for years, so no sorry we dont do flats.
58. Do you operate a free DIY advice line?
NO! no, no no!!!!!!!! (sorry). We love hearing from people, but our customer service has been abused a few times. We do not give free diy advice, we do not do surveys for free as a way of you by-passing surveyors fees in order to sell your house, and we do not give web design advice for free either!

59. Do you repair "cowboy" wallcoating jobs done by others?
Unfortunately yes, this is an aspect of our work. If you have a house that has been previously wallcoated and has failed as they did not do the job properly, we can fix it for you, and in some cases issue a new guarantee on the part of the house repaired by us, although as a general rule we usually have to re-do an entire wall, rather than one small bit.
60. Do you offer any other services apart from painting related?
Yes, we do. We offer a consultancy service at £100 per hour plus expenses. This covers surveying of houses for insurance purposes or insurance claims and so on. 61. I read an article by you a couple of years ago in Ideal Homes magazine about Stone cladding, do you still remove it?
We do remove stone cladding, but only as part of an exterior wall refurbishment. We dont JUST take the cladding off, we replace it with a new protective and decorative wall surface

64. Do you only offer textured exterior wall coatings?
No, we offer a range of external wall finishes, from smooth, to fine texture, to coarse texture.
We specialise in bespoke exteriors, so whatever finish and colour you want, we are confident that we can exceed your expectations. We offer resin based, spray applied exterior wall coatings, which are similar in nature to a very long life, hard wearing decorative paint finish, mostly for external walls. We offer these coatings in a huge range of colours, and in finishes ranging from smooth, fine texture, medium texure and coarse (rough) texture.
WE ARE ALSO LOOKING TO BRING IN A COOLING EXTERIOR COATING, FOR OUR SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE CUSTOMERS, WHICH WILL REDUCE YOUR AIR CONDITIONING COSTS BY UP TO HALF.

65. Is your wallcoating service suitable for garden walls?
If you are having the outside of your house done by us or one of our contractors, we can do the garden walls if you want, but as they would not have a DPC (damp course) or cavity, we would not offer a warranty on coating applied to garden walls. If you are looking for a coloured or textured paint or render product SOLELY for garden walls, we cannot help you, however go back to the home page and click the DIY PAINT link, there may be something there for you.
......so, we can ONLY do your garden walls, IF we are doing the rest of the house at the same time, we don't and can't do just the walls, it is uneconomical to do so.
66. I have written an original article or story which I want to publish on your website, how do I do that?
Please CONTACT the website from the contact page (above left), stating the topic of your article, and your web address if applicable, we would then email you back an email address to send the article to, for our editorial review. We welcome submissions every week from across the world. We also offer a FREE link back to your website if applicable.
67. Do you ever send unsolicited email marketing letters to anyone?
No, we don't, and we have no plans to do so. Later on in the year we are introducing a newsletter, subscription only, a link will be posted when this becomes live. We also dont send mass leaflet dops out in the post, although many of our competitors do!
68. What times are you open?
We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! If the office is un-manned, there is a 24 hour voicemail for you to leave messages on. 69. I have some rare plants in my garden; what happens to them if your company paints my house?
A good question. Our skilled operatives take a tremendous amount of time and care in protecting areas adjacent to the area they are working on. Bushes and shrubs are covered over and treated with the utmost care. For borders and trailing plants, we also take a tremendous amount of care not to damage them in any way. If you subsequently have work done to your home by us, we are happy to work with you to protect your plants. This also applies to lawns and driveways, which are always fully protected.
70. How do I remove textured wall coatings from pipes or windows?
Any professional company will NEVER leave any mess once an exterior wallcoating job is completed. If you have fallen victim to a cowboy wallcoatings company, heres what to do if they have left a mess...........
Excess textured coating cannot be washed off with water as it is of course a waterproof coating, however to remove overspray, simply soak a rag in white sprit and rub hard. Then allow to mist over, and wipe down with a clean cloth. This also applies to windows and glass, although that particular cleaning method must also be accompanied by a scraper.
The only way to remove paint spots from a path or driveway is by a wire brush and a high pressure hose, again, it cannot be washed off.
NPA International ALWAYS takes a lot of time and care in protecting areas not be sprayed, so this is not something that happens to us, however I hope the above information is helpful.
71. Do you own any other wallcoating and paint websites apart from this one?
No, we don't. This is the worlds foremost site for exterior paint and coatings, we dont do paint websites for anyone else!
72. If your teams are working outside on my house, what about my fish pond?
We always protect fish ponds by temporarily placing a cover over the water to protect the fish. We also work closely with you to ensure their safety and well being whilst works are being carried out.
If the pond were NOT to be covered, a fine oily film would settle on the water, and cut off the oxygen supply to the fish, so of course, all fish ponds are treated very seriously by us. Resin based textured coating should NEVER be introduced to any water supply and are always disposed of by our teams, legally, safely and in an environmentally sound way.
73. Can I use any material or images on this site, for my own use?
NO! All original material is copyright protected.
Over the years we have had tremendous problems with people, mostly competing companies, thinking they can take text, images and concepts from our site and call it their own. We have so far to date had 11 websites removed from the internet and banned, because of this. If you steal images and text from this website, the HOST of your site is also responsible by law. We have a tremendous amount of legal experience in this, so please dont test the water by doing it!

We also have an advanced anti piracy sytem which constantly trawls the internet for our material being stolen and used on other sites. IF you do this, with all due respect, we may prosecute you. 74. A general builder said that textured coatings may not be a good idea for my house? Is that right?
Well, obviously we differ in opinion on that!
Apart from the fact that all of our installation teams are headed by an experienced master builder, many general builders try and dissuade one or two of our potential customers, as they want the work themselves!
Which when you think about it is fairly obvious, however builders want the work on your home as they want you to have to call them back every 2 years or so to repaint your house!
Thats the beauty of the NPA EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEM as once our skilled teams transform your house exterior, you don't need to call us back for up to 25 years!
75. Is your coating harmful to Animals, and what about the safety of my pets if you did work on my house?
Here at NPA, we treat health and safety VERY seriously.
All paints, coatings and varnishes are harmful to animals, even the top brand paints you find in stores. You must ALWAYS keep both pets and children away from any construction related activity on your home. Paint and coatings should NEVER be ingested by animals or humans. If we eventually do some work for you, we kindly ask you to keep all pets and animals away from the work area. If you have any special requirements, then please tell the surveyor when they arrive to measure and survey your home.
NPA regularly donates to several animal charities, both in the UK, and in Spain. We treat the welfare of your pets very seriously, and we are happy to work with you, to help and advise the best way to keep your pets away from any potentially harmful or distressing works being carried out to your home.
76. Are your people fully insured?
All of our dealers, agents and contractors are legally obliged to have insurance, and you, as the customer can request to see proof of this at any time.
77. Are you able to repair and decorate my Holiday home?
Yes of course, the NPA EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEM is ideal for houses that are infrequently occupied as with our coatings, you literally enjoy ZERO exterior maintenance, plus our coatings do NOT break down under intense sun, unlike other paints!
We can do all types of 2nd houses and holiday homes but we do NOT do mobile homes, apartments or wooden buildings.

78. I am an installer in the trade, of spray applied exterior textured coatings. How do I apply for work with you?
As we have a dedicated and loyal workforce, we don't often have job opportunties, but when we do, they are posted on our JOBS page. You would need to be VERY experienced and competent, with your own equipment, and a portfolio of jobs and references for us to follow up after your application. You are more than welcome to phone or email for a chat though, as we do keep the names of spray crews on file for future opportunties. Why not conisder one of our franchising options and come and join the team (a small investment is required).
79. Do you only refurbish and paint private homes?
No, not at all; we can repair and repaint a variety of different buildings with the NPA EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEM, including shops, factories, hotels, Guest Houses, Government and Military buildings, hospitals, Pubs, restaurants and cafe's, Retail units and virtually all other types of building.
80. I saw on another wallcoatings website that they use more than one supplier. Do you do this?
Yes we do. As we use a variety of high quality suppliers, and, as we now cover many different countries across europe, we reserve the right to change suppliers according to the geographic location of the customer.
All materials we use have been thoroughly tested and conform (and in some cases, exceed...) to all BS Building regulations for paint and coatings.
Most of our suppliers also use material that has a BSI (British standards) certificate, AND a coveted BBA (British board of agrement) certificate.
We are confident that due to this supplier flexibility, our group buying power, and the fact that we only use the HIGHEST quality ingredients in our exterior paints and coatings, that your home or commercial building, once coated, will keep the weather out, AND look excellent for at LEAST the next 15 years! GUARANTEED!
81. Apart from walls, do you paint other bits of the outside of my house such as wood areas (windows, doors etc)?
If you would like us to weatherproof, decorate and protect your walls with our exterior wallcoating, we can also do pipes, gutters, doors, windows etc as PART OF the overall work, and this would be included in the price and specified on any work schedule we prepare with you. We do NOT only do wood though, just as part of an overall exterior refurbishment.
82. If I have a quote from your company, or one of your agents, to paint the outside of my house, are there any hidden costs?
No! The surveyor who would come and visit you, is just that, a SURVEYOR, NOT A COMMISSION HUNGRY SALESMAN, with many years of training and experience.
The survyeor will SURVEY (!) your building exterior, note any problems we would have to fix or repair, measure the exact surface area, and then calculate a FIXED PRICE cost while he or she is there. The price we give you would in most cases, include scaffolding, materials, VAT or tax, and so on.
The price you see is the price you pay!
This means that for example if we quoted you, say 2,000 euros, and we did the work for you, the bill at the end would be as stated, and not anything added on! Even if subsequently, we discovered more repairs that needed doing, they would still be included in the price and you would NOT be asked for more money! I Hope that answers your qeustion.
83. What currencies can I pay you in?
We accept payment for work within the UK and the European Union in Pounds sterling or Euros. In some cases, we can also accept US dollars (subject to a processing fee). Please speak to your agent when placing your order.
84. Exactly WHAT types of repairs do you undertake on houses?
Well, point number 1 would be the fact that you do NOT have to get a builder to carry out repairs before we repaint the external part if your home, we do ALL the repairs for you as part of our service.
Secondly, the types of repair work we do include: Injecting damp proof courses (DPC), replacing gutters, windows or pipes, curing penetrating damp, removing algae, moss and mould from walls, repointing or replacing bricks, scraping back loose paint, removing old and un-used items at your request (eg, redundant lights), repairs to tyrolean, pebbledash, spar dash and render, filling in holes, correcting previously badly carried out repairs by others, and so on.
85. Do you only do the paint colours listed on your colour chart page?
No, not all, we do a massive range of colours in both paint and exterior coatings.
The standard colour chart lists our most popular colours (see link to the left of this page at the top), but we can mix and match virtually any paint colour you require. If you have a historic or listed building, we can also match the traditional colour. If you have a can of ordinairy paint or a colour swatch from a DIY store, in most cases we can ALMOST match that but in such cases, please bear in mind many of the larger paint factories have their own paint colours sometimes protected by trade mark and patent so an exact match is not always possible for legal and logistical reasons.
If you are unsure about colour, your local agent will show you many samples and examples of the different colour effects and schemes available in the NPA EXTERIOR WALL SYSTEM range.
86. Do you support any good causes or charities?
Yes we do. We regularly donate generously to charities who support the welfare of animals. If you would like to approach us about sponsorship, please send us an email. In addition, if you would like to make an anonymous donation to a charity through our company, we would be happy to arrange this for you, free of charge.
87. Can this work contribute to my HIPS (home information pack)
Yes it can. As from today (10th September 2007), it is now law in the UK if you plan on selling your home, to provide a HIP (Home information pack) for houses with 3 or more bedrooms. If you have work done by us to your home, you would be issued a guarantee for 15 years. This guarantee will form part of your home information pack, making it more attractive to sellers as they will be buying a property that will not require exterior maintenance for at least the next 15 years. 88. Do you operate in the USA or Canada?
No, sorry we do not. As per the question further up this page, we are nothing to do with anyone who advertises as "never paint again" in the USA or Canada.

89. Why can I not find any prices on this site?
...because we do not have an average price, nor do we price per square metre, and nor do we sell our products to anyone, we are a service provider, not a retailer!
No two houses are ever the same and some houses require more preparation, for example, than others. Some houses require scaffolding, some don't. ...plus the processes we use to apply our coating differs according to the exterior wall surface of your house. Applying our wallcoatings on pebbledash, for example, requires more preparation and materials, than applying a weatherproof coating onto a smooth rendered wall. We are happy to discuss your requirements with you on the phone, but we have to see your house in order to give you a price, it's as simple as that!
90. Do you do small areas of exterior wall?
That's a difficult question. As you may have realised, we usually need to see the place before we can tell if its something we can do, however as a general rule, if its only one very small wall, then usually no, we cant.
This is because of the fact that our teams have to travel a long way around the country to work on various projects and with our accommodation and travel expenses taken out of the price, if its only one small wall, we probably couldn't do it!
As a rough guide, and especially as we are by far NOT the most expensive company that does this, if you have a wall that is LESS THAN 30 square feet, we couldn't help you.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT WE DO NOT DO CHEAP AND CHEERFUL RENDERING JOBS, YOU NEED TO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL BUILDER FOR THAT! We do rendering as part of our repairs, but only when we install an exterior coating on top of the render to protect it. On average, householders in the UK get around 120 items PER PERSON per year. Multiply that by several million, and thats a lot of trees wasted.
We are the ONLY coating company in the Uk who appear to actively care for the environment, and as such we dissuade any form of direct mail or leaflets.
