Now and again, the houses we work on exude a real warmth and character.
This old lovely house in Grimsby, South Humberside is a prime example of the gems we often enjoy to renovate for our clients.
Despite the fact that it had various alterations and additions over the years.
The brickwork was sadly in poor condition due to the harsh weather, with loose pointing, defaced bricks and a whole host of other defects.
It took less than a week for our teams to repair and spruce up this lovely house with the NPA exterior wall coating system.
Sadly we didn’t manage to get any of the “before” images but you can still get a good idea of what it looks like now anyway.
Grimsby Exterior Wall coatings Job, the “after” photos
Yes we work all across the country but we love coming up to Grimsby, for the warm welcome we always get especially, so we were delighted to have the opportunity to work on this lovely house.
Here is another view of our paint work
We replaced all the missing brick mortar joints, replaced the face (flat edge) of many of the broken bricks.
We then applied a mixture known as “bagging” which is a cement slurry with unibond and fixes all the little holes in the bricks, plus it sticks the pointing back to the wall, ensuring it will not come away again.

We then masked up the windows and laid dust sheets around the drive and garden so as to not make any mess.
We then hand applied a waterproof primer, allowed to dry, and then sprayed an exterior textured wall coating, in a fine texture grade, onto the brick walls.
As the house was old but with a later extension, there was some mismatch of bricks, but we soon sorted that out.

This was then allowed to dry, we removed the masking, cleaned the site up and hey presto, a great looking house, and guaranteed for 20 years to stay looking like this too!

Many times people who have brick houses that have problems, come to us as their local painter just cannot take the job on as they do not have training to apply our wall coatings.
They are really thick, flexible and durable, but as you can see, they take nothing away from the character of a brick house and you can still see the bricks under the paint.
A close up of the cottage walls will testify that
Here is the final image, although it was getting dark!
Looks good eh? This house will stay looking freshly painted for up to 20 years.
