This is a short blog post to keep our customers and our loyal blog readers up to speed as to what’s going on in our world.
This Easter 2015 we will be launching a new version of our site, the first new version since 2012, and one that is keeping in line with the changing use of the internet.
We started up this website way back in 2001, which is hard to believe we’ve been doing this online for that length of time, not without challenge I may add, however now is the time to change, but why?
Well back along when we first started out, people accessed our services from a desktop PC or a laptop and that is how our website was built, however things have now changed.
Data given to us by the chaps at Google UK showed us that nowadays 35% of all visits to this website are from smartphones, and that is a figure that we expect to rise at least 10% over the next 2 fiscal years.
So why now?
The main reason we are changing our website
Over the past couple of years we have anticipated the rise in use of smartphones, however the infrastructure of this site is outdated now and does not work properly on smartphones, with people having to scroll around the screen, increase the font size etc etc.
This, we realised, was not the way forward and provided a poor user experience for people wanting their house painted, but having to struggle with finding the info displayed correctly on their phones.
So we needed a change and we are now halfway through developing the mobile friendly version of our website, which should be launched around Easter time.
One main reason is the announcement from Google that websites that are NOT mobile phone friendly will be shown LOWER in the search results that ones that ARE smartphone compliant.
In the past we have seen occasional sudden drops in our traffic due to Google updates and it was a guessing game as to what the hell was wrong.
Now they have told us in advance, so expect to see our new mobile phone friendly website in a few weeks time. The site will resize according to what device you have surfed into the site on, and will be 100% user friendly for both mobile phone users and desktop PC visitors, plus a range of new features we are keeping under wraps for now.
In the mean time, if you have any questions about our website, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at the NPA website office, we are always here to help you, and I hope that this year you become one of our loyal clients and benefit from our fabulous range of house painting solutions.
