Painting a Brick and Mock Tudor house, Bradford, with a wall coating

This modern house in Bradford, West Yorkshire, was part brick and part mock Tudor beam construction.

The brickwork at ground level was in good condition but the panels had excessive flaking paint, and the beams around the mock Tudor features had become flaky and brittle.

Despite this rather smart house being of a fairly modern construction, urgent attention was needed to avoid further deterioration of the external appearance of the house.

This is something that normally requires 2 phone calls: one to a general builder, and one to a decorator. But not any more.

Here is how we externally renovated a modern house in Bradford.

The white panels were of a scored render or textured render type, surrounded by modern wooden beams and the flaking paint can be clearly seen in this image.

After just a few days of hard work, our team refurbished all the white panels in the middle of the mock Tudor exterior wall surface.

We also replaced any beams that were rotten, with an exact matching blackened beam system, and then applied the NPA Smooth coating wall system to the entire white area of the walls.

Whilst working on the house we got the installation team to take some pictures of the various bits of the property, and what exactly we were doing to refinish the exterior of the house.

Here we see one of the sides of the building, showing the textured render between the beams.

This is also known as scored render and for whatever reason, you can see the mould had started to collect on the white bit, meaning the render harboured water, the common signs of dampness.

For mould to grow on a wall, it requires that the wall retains moisture, just like a plant needs water to grow, the evidence of green on the wall clearly shows the wall itself contains moisture, which will cause many problems if not fixed now.

If we glance at a wider angle shot of the house, you can see how unsightly the mouldy render panels had become.

On the other elevation, the side that seemed to get most of the bad weather, the paint on the render was just falling off, in fact the owner suggested that when it rained against the house, more and more paint was coming away and falling like snowflakes on the driveway.

They knew something was amiss for sure!

Although this was a large 4 bedroom home, much of it was unpainted brickwork which of course did not need any attention.

However if you are reading this and you have a brick house that suffers from damp, but you do NOT want it painted, maybe check out our clear wall coatings?

Clear wall coatings are ideal for places that get the weather and also the damp too but covering over the bricks or even painting the brick is never an option with a modern house like this.

In fact many homes built like this have a covenant in the deeds to make sure the houses remain looking the same, so our system is idea as it does not change the look.

And this is one we made earlier!

As you can see, the owners were delighted, especially as the outside of their house will stay looking this good when all their neighbours homes will look scruffy after a few years!

The clear wall coating system we use will go on giving superior protection against cold and wet weather for the next 2 decades.

If you live in Yorkshire, you can be reassured in dealing with a team of Yorkshire born and bred people, from our base in Leeds.
