External Coatings on a house in Scotland

front of Scottish house after wall coatings in scotland

Never paint again are well known in England and Wales for transforming homes with Andura wall coatings, but did you know, we also cover most of Scotland too?

Here’s our latest job from north of the border.

This lovely “wee” house (!) in bonny Scotland was suffering from an extreme case of what happens when the Scottish weather we all so love (!) hits the wall, often driven by high winds.

This can, over time, remove even the strongest masonry paint and as you can see from the images below, (all of which expand when clicked), the masonry paint on this house, despite only being applied a couple of years ago, had mostly flaked away.

Repairs and weatherproofing to Scottish homes.

Scotland is know for many things, but one thing can ruin a day for anyone is when the weather gets bad, and this also means the effect it has on the outside of your house.

If your building is not protected adequately from the ravages of storms, the rain and the driving wind, then whatever is on the house walls, be it harling, pebbledash, paint, is not going to be much good apart from looking nice, for a while anyway.

This is a brief summary of what we did to the house to repair it and make the walls waterproof and weatherproof.

The works we did in Scotland

Whilst working we took a few pictures and here they are!

This is the mess that we had to start with!

As you can see from the images below, one of the first tasks our team had to do was to remove the extensive flaky paint around the walls, using tools and also a powerful hot water pressure washer.

The rear of the house was not much better!

Once the paint was off, various bad areas such as cracks were revealed.

They were repaired by our teams as any exterior wall coating must have the correct preparation before application, to ensure it will lasts for at least 15 years.

When we fix cracks, we do NOT just fill them up with silicone like a cowboy builder or a cash-in-hand decorator, we do it the right way and angle grind the cracks out mechanically, then inject a super strong epoxy resin mortar into the cracks, a bit like super glue for walls.

Protecting the house from the Scottish weather

We then masked up the windows and protected the bushes around the house, applied a coat of modified latex render wash, then a generous coating of NEVER PAINT AGAIN masonry primer.

The following thing we had to do was apply the top coat of NEVER PAINT AGAIN EXTERIOR WALL COATING was sprayed to the walls using a “Graco president” pressure spray system.

And this is the final wall coating product, all done!

Moving around the house for a further look at a different view, you can now appreciate the front of the house as seen below.

Try scrolling back up and looking at the before images, what a massive difference a spray applied wall covering made to this home!

This house will now not need repainting, or repairs, for up to 20 years!

And finally, as to not leave the SIDE of the house out, as of course we worked very hard in painting and weatherproofing the entire building, here is a view of the side of the house.

If this system interests you, why not find out more about having it on your home?

There is no obligation to buy when you call us or send an email.

We try and give as much advice as we can as to what colours would suit your home, what textured we would recommend, and we can also advise you on what we would do if your home needs repairs or alterations, after all we are all master builders NOT painters and decorators, so we can take on far more work than a painter would.
