The outside of this Aberystwyth house now looks great!

Another fine example of how we can repair and paint your home in no time at all, and we guarantee it will look this good for at least 15 years!

This particular cottage near to Aberystwyth in Wales, was in a rural, exposed area, and the walls were buffeted daily by the winds and rain coming across the open countryside.

The interior of the house was immaculate but, try as they may, the owners couldn’t keep the exterior in good shape, as normal masonry paint just was not up to the job and every 18 months, this house had to be repainted!

The exterior of the house needed work!

The exterior of the house had a lot of cracked render, hairline cracks, loose paint and so on, and something needed to be done, so we got to work fixing this lovely bungalow up to look a treat, with the added bonus that there would be no need to paint it again.

We had a lot of external wall crack repairing to do, and to highlight that, here is a shot of the front, before we started, showing the extent of the cracking wall.

Cracked walls house: A case study

The photos below show the various stages we did to the house, including repairs, scraping off loose paint and so on. It is of major importance when we work on a home in this bad condition, to make sure that the walls are fully repaired and free of any defects before we apply the coating or it just won’t work.

Here is another view of the horror story we had to deal with.

The owners had recently got cavity wall insulation fitted to lower their heating bills and although they were happy they had that work done, the scars left behind in the walls where they drill the holes and inject those little polystyrene beads made it look bad so we had to do something about that too.

We then covered up the windows with masking, and applied a latex bonded render wash, sealing the friable paint, smoothing out imperfections and giving the next 2 coats a good key (adhesion).

This is what the house looked like after the first primer

We then hand applied NPA slush coat, and then spray applied the top coating of NEVER PAINT AGAIN textured masonry coating.

Once the “sticky” primer is applied, and we do that all by hand, the house starts to look like a house again! In fact we took a photo to show you!

So without further ado, here are some “after” images of the property

Remember earlier we were looking at the side wall, showing those awful scars in the wall?

Well this is what it looks like with our textured wall coating on the house.
