The Uk housing market boom or bust???? recommended reading

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Buy the TIMES newspaper today (friday 7th September) and turn to the “bricks and mortar” section for a robust if slightly one sided debate and forecast about the Uk housing market. Most predict a slowdown, i for one predict a crash, prices will NOT go down too much as people strill need homes, but wait and see for 2008. hmmmm, maybe next year I will be able to afford to buy my own house instead of being at the mercy of buy to let landlaords. (without going into detail), over the past 7 years i have had to move 4 times as the landlord of each (who promised us a long tenancy) house decided to sell as the market was so good, so under UK tenancy laws, they only have to give 2 months written notice and we were booted out onto the street (almost). I would very much like to wipe the smile off their faces!!!!!!! In Spain, there is such thing as a “vivienda” tenancy which means you have a min of 5 years, so at least you get some sort of security.

requesting an estimate or quotation for exterior wall coatings work on their house

To whom it may concern

Request for Quotation

I am interested in getting a quote for making good and decorating the pebble dash finish to the front of our property

The house is a late Victorian mid terrace property in N8, London, and is divided into two flats of which we occupy the ground floor. The front exterior is pebble dashed with the remaining original features (cornicing, copings etc) having been painted. The facade is approximately 5.5m wide and 8m at its highest point. Please find attached pictures for your information.

Both the freeholder (who lives upstairs) and ourselves are keen to make good the exterior - ideally removing the pebble dash to reveal the exisiting brickwork however we appreciate that the brickwork may not be a good enough condition to be left exposed. As a consequence we would be grateful if you could provide a quotation repairing and decorating the existing pebbledash and painting the walls and features

Can you advise if you quote will include all materials, labour and scaffolding. Ideally we would like you to be able to visit the house to confirm the works involved.

We look forward to hearing from you

Yours sincerely

……..all of our prices are fully inclusive. We would have to arrange a meeting with both of you to discuss this further………………..

We do not do internal domestic wall decorating! sorry!

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Enquirer Message: Would like a quote for the front exterior of a victorian terrace house including internal hallway and living room walls only. Also, window ledges at the back of the house will also require paint.

(Eds note, we replied, pointing out that we don’t do domestic internal decoration)

Chap wants his house re-rendered

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Enquirer Message: I have a two bedroom corner house that i am looking to have re-rendered/dashed. Lower half of the house is brick and would remain brick. Upper half is a textured render finish but the top textured layer is coming away from the base render. The beads around the windows have blown and need to be replaced. The upper half also encompasses the gable end which is of a steep pitch. The upper half of the house has 3 Rectangular windows and one round window high on the gable end. Only one other wall is required to be treated. I would be interested to know in the first instance a ball park price for repair of the existing render/window beads and application of your product. This can be a very broad range since at this stage we wish to consider viability of completing this project before taking your time for a survey and formal quotation. Many Thanks

Thank you for your question……………… We cannot and do not give a price without seeing the property! I appreciate that you don’t want to “waste our time” (!) and your not wasting it, not at all, this is what we are here fore, to help you. I am happy to give a price but I HAVE to see the house first.

House rear with rendering and render repairs in progress

Canal side cottage needs repainting

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Enquirer Message: We live in an old rendered cottage. The cottage is situated at the side of a canal. As a result of this there is a small amount of movement that causes the rendering to develop hairline cracks. Because of this we find ourselves repairing these cracks each year. The house now looks a little untidy. We are now researching other ways in which we can deal with this before we consider a full re-render.

HI, well thats a difficult question, our coatings are flexible but no exterior coating product currently on the market will stop movement or subsidence. I would suggest that you call in a chartered surveyor to suggest what to do before we could do anything for you. Good luck anyway.

GRRRRRR! Yet another wallcoating company is trying to rip NPA off!

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

THIS ISSUE HAS NOW BEEN PARTIALLY RESOLVED, ALTHOUGH TO KEEP THAT COMPANY ON THEIR TOES, I WILL NOT REMOVE THIS PAGE. THEY ARE STILL USING ADVERTISING BANNERS WITH “NEVER PAINT AGAIN”.  THE STORY IS BASCIALLY, THEY TOOK STUFF FROM ME AND PUT IT ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE. THEY REMOVED IT EVENTUALLY, BUT I HAD A SUCCESSION OF WEIRD AND HIGHLY OFFENSIVE PHONE CALLS FROM ONE OF THEIR INSTALLATION CREWS, A GEORDIE CHAP, DONT KNOW HIS NAME, BUT BELIEVE ME, HE IS A SICK INDIVIDUAL.

ANYWAY, THIS STAYS, BUT FOR THE RECORD, THE DISPUTE IS PARTIALLY RESOLVED.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I have discovered (despite warning them 3 times), that a wallcoatings company in ireland called Evertex (not the english company of the same name, ONLY the one in ireland), have ripped off photos from MY gallery page on my corporate website http://www.neverpaintagain.co.uk/examples-of-work.php

I’m not going to post their url to give them free traffic, but it makes me so angry sometimes!

:(

Why is it that, over the pastr few years, the several British and irish (and some American) textured coating or painting and decorating companies, who chuck a few quid at a “spare bedroom web designer” to come up with a “website” (!) think they can just take text and photos from my website.

YOU CANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

My site and content took years of graft, and is protected by law.

EVERTEX EXTERIOR WALL COATINGS OF IRELAND, TAKE MY HARD WORK OFF YOUR WEBSITE PLEASE. It is also an offence to display a picture of a newly refurbished house, that YOU did not do, I DID THE JOB,

A photo of a house that WE DID, REPEAT US, NOT EVERTEX COATINGS OF IRELAND WHO DID NOT PAINT THIS HOUSE
