GRP flat Roof coatings, Floor coatings & Andura roof coatings

NEW PRODUCT NEWS!!!!!

Our professional contractors, (All seasons wall systems ltd), are pleased to introduce a new range of high performance roof coatings, manufactured by Andura, the leading brand of exterior coatings in Europe today.

These fantastic products are known as "Roofgard roof coating" and they are professionally applied to the roof of your house by our skilled teams. They are available in a range of 5 natural looking colours, and as they are totally weather resistant, they protect your roof tiles as well as looking great, in fact, they give the appearance of a whole new roof! They are available across the whole of the UK, and all products carry the BBA certificate of proof of performance, meaning they have been thoroughly tested and they do "what it says on the tin" (!)

They key features of this great new product are:

* The roof coating is Weatherproof & durable.
* Roofgard is colour fast so it wont fade or discolour.
* The roof coatings are resistant to all types of airborne chemical deterioration such as acid rain and pollution.
* Roofgard is quick drying and low odour. (VOC)
* Totally resistant to the growth of mould, algae etc, even in traditionally shady or damp areas!
* Completely maintenance free.

"Your house is probably the largest single investment you will ever make, so it makes sense that you should protect its value. One aspect of protection is the roof. Roof tiles and continuously attacked by the elements and become porous with age and as a result create the ideal conditions to promote the growth of moss and lichens. This unwanted growth not only damages the surface of the tiles over a period of time but also results in a shabby appearance."

(The above paragraph of text is reproduced from the Andura roofgard brochure, available from your local agent by calling NPA free on (0800) 970 4928 and requesting one, which we will request on your behalf. All product names and descriptions are copyright Andura, Bicester, Oxfordshire and NPA does not infer copyright.)

So what actually are Roofgard roof coatings?

Roofgard coatings are high performance, water based roof coatings which are specifically designed for application to traditional concrete roof tiles.

They are designed to prolong the life of your roof and to enhance the visual effect of it, which can be especially advantageous if you are refurbishing your house in order to sell it.

Does NPA manufacture these special roof coatings?

No, we leave this sort of thing to the experts at Andura who have been involved in the production of wall and roof coatings since the 1970's. NPA does not infer copyright or ownership of the coatings, or the concept involved. For further technical info, contact Andura or send us an email and we will pass it on.

Does NPA apply the coatings?

NPA acts as a technical intermediary. All application of the roof coatings are carried out by approved Andura contractors, namely All seasons wall systems ltd, experts in their own right, and partners of the NPA brand for many years.

Is the roof coating suitable for asbestos covered roofs?

In some cases, yes it is, but please contact us with more information about the roof so that we may assess if it is suitable or not as great care must be taken when working with asbestos.

How are the roof coatings applied?

Great care is taken when applying roof coatings, especially when working at heights, so all teams have safety gear and equipment on hand. Roofgard is NOT a DIY product and cannot and should not be applied by the novice.

The first job is to replace or fix any loose or missing tiles from the roof surface and check all lead flashing is correctly affixed to any joins or edges. We also check for loose ridge and hip tiles and repoint any areas as necessary. We also clean your gutters while we are working on the roof, ensuring that after we finish, you will have the peace of mind of a trouble free Roof.

Then the roof is power washed to remove loose and flay dirt and debris, and also to remove any moss or algae that has grown on the roof.

In many cases, a separate biocide fungicidal solution is also applied to the roof surface.

The roof must by dry when we apply it, and therefore, no chance of rain after application.

We then apply 2 generous coats of Andura roofgard to the roof surface and allow to dry.

All materials and waste from the work is removed by the teams and the whole property is left in good order.

GRP was discovered in the late 1940's. It was quickly adopted during the 1950's and 60's for a wide range of applications where its corrosive-proof properties allied to its high strength and excellent appearance, soon proved to be invaluable. Today it has become the standard material for the construction of small craft, water tanks, processing vessels, building cladding panels and roof lights.

When used for roofing, GRP provides a completely weatherproof system without any of the problems associated with traditional roofing materials. Its unrivalled performance protects millions of square metres of roofs throughout the UK, to the extent that there are GRP roofs laid more than thirty years ago, which are yet to show signs of deterioration.

Why Specify EVERSEAL?

Traditional bitumen-based waterproofing systems have been used since Roman times, and it is a fact that any bitumen-based roof will eventually leak. The problem has been solved in the past by either building a pitched roof over an existing flat roof (very expensive), or by specifiying even more expensive materials such as lead or copper sheathing. EVERSEAL is a cost-effective, dependable solution to these problems, which is why architects, councils, hotels, shops, etc, large and small, not to mention householders throughout the South West will only accept the best. Specify an EVERSEAL GRP roof.

EVERSEAL - The Homeowner's Choice

With its unique, tack-free flexible roofing resin and pre-pigmented topcoat, homeowners choose EVERSEAL for its ease of application and user-friendly characteristics. EVERSEAL's unique formulation will easily tolerate the thermal expansion and contraction experienced on even the most demanding or complicated of roof designs, which means that an EVERSEAL roof will never crack or fail when installed to the correct specification.

EVERSEAL - The Architect's Choice

EVERSEAL's high strength, lightweight properties and superb appearance in any colour are the reasons why EVERSEAL has been specified for a large number of specialised applications where aesthetically appealing long life materials are required. Whether simulating lead or copper, sheathing, repairing listed buildings or being used in environmentally sensitive areas, EVERSEAL is an effective and reliable choice that can be installed rapidly on both domestic and commercial applications by our South West network of trained and approved technicians.

EVERSEAL - The Specifier's Choice

Local authorities have specified EVERSEAL for many applications because it offers a proven high performance and cost-effective alternative to traditional bitumen-based waterproof coatings. EVERSEAL is considered cost-effective because it willl easily outlast all other conventional roof coatings and has the potential to outlast the structure it is protecting. This effectiveness and unsurpassed reliablility are the reasons why EVERSEAL is considered to be the finest roof that money can buy.

Roof Construction

The design of the roof and preparation required to secure it to the main structure will be detailed on your construction drawings. The roof was first considered when foundations were poured, and it was at that very early stage that the importance of wall strengths and their relation to the roof became apparent. That initial assessment should have enabled you to arrive at the current stage of construction with a suitable and solid base on which the roof can now be placed.

Roof Types

There are two main types of roof and the one you have chosen to build is likely to reflect how you intend using the space it will provide. Traditional roof designs offer greater flexibility because they are constructed with substantial timber beams, whilst the lightweight trussed rafter type is easier to lift into place.

The basic principle of the traditional roof construction is to bring load-bearing cross walls up into the roof space to support horizontal running purlins . These are large section timbers onto which the rafters are fixed at regular intervals, to support the roof coverings. When large spans are involved, the purlins can be replaced with lightweight steel beams, and timber is then placed on top of these, so that rafters can be fixed.

A trussed rafter roof is the lightweight alternative, and ideal if the void is only going to be used for minor storage. This type of construction relies on an array of small bracing timbers, rather than large single beams. The amount of timber involved virtually fills the void, making it fairly useless, but the frames can be lifted into position easily. Once seated on top of the walls, the frames are connected using galvanized metal plates, and diagonally braced according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Roof frames can be created in a plethora of different shapes and materials and each one will have its own set of pertinent calculations for load bearing and fixing. Your architect will have recommended a particular type of construction based on cost, style and function, in accordance with local planning restrictions and building regulations. The profile of your roof may therefore already have been determined by earlier limitations or constraints forced upon you by external authorities.

OUR ROOFING TEAMS CAN ALSO REPLACE TRADITIONAL PITCHED ROOFS INCLUDING ENTIRE HOUSE ROOFS. CALL US FOR A QUOTE.
